Douglas E. Richards was born on May 7th, 1962.  He grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio with his parents and his sister, Pam.  He went to Finneytown High School, and then graduated with a degree in microbiology from Ohio State University, a master's degree in molecular biology from the University of Wisconsin, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Chicago.

Douglas now lives in San Diego, California with his wife, Kelly, and his two children, Ryan and Regan.  The main characters in his Promethius Project series are named after his children, who are shown next to him in the picture above.  Finally, Douglas has a furry black cockapoo (a cross between a cocker spaniel and a poodle) named Dash, and an adorable mystery puppy named Myla.  Why is Myla a mystery puppy?  Because the Richards family got her from a shelter, who told them her mother is part dachshund and part something else, and her father is unknown.  If her father was a great dane, this puppy's going to get big in a hurry.

Douglas loves to read, play sports (tennis, softball, touch football, squash, ping-pong and badminton), and body surf in the ocean (although if the waves get too high, he chickens out).  He also loves to write.  One of the ways a person can tell if they're doing something that makes them happy is if they become so involved in it that time seems to fly.  Douglas reports that when he's writing, five hours flies by like its five minutes, but when he's at the dentist's office, five minutes seems like forever.

Douglas loves hearing from readers, young and old alike, so please don't hesitate to write him at .
